The words meditation and medicine both come from the same Sanskrit root word meaning to ‘take the measure of’ and ‘to care for.

Studies show that meditation can change your neurotransmitter levels, including increasing serotonin, beta endorphin, melatonin, and acetylcholine, while decreasing cortisol and norepinephrine levels.

There are three major types of meditation:  concentrative, mindfulness and expressive.  All three have powerful, beneficial effects.  Meditation creates a relaxed state of moment to moment awareness which is critical to stress reduction.  The more you do it, the more you will benefit.
